Emmett Till story

Emmett Till was an 14 years old negro boy from Chicago. Till and his cousin were getting ready to go visit their great uncle in Money Mississippi for the summer. Prior to his departure from home, his mother warned him to mind his manners infront of the white folks, because tensions were still high from the Brown vs. Board of Education decision. One day Till and his friends went to a local store called Bryans Grocery to buy candy and soda. Till was a garrulous person and was dared by one of his friends to flirt with Mrs. Bryan. Till tooked the dare and implied to Mrs. Bryan while leaving out the store "Bye Baby." Word got around the town and back to her husband about Till's comment. Outraged Mr. Bryan drove around town and found Till sleeping at his uncles house, he dragged him out to his truck and drove off. They drove him to a shed where the brutally beat him and shot him to death. They then tied a 70 pound fan with barbed wire around his neck and dumped him over into a river. His body was there for 3 days untill it was discovered by 2 fishermans. Till's mother insisted on having an open casket for the world could see how they brutatily beat her baby. The main suspects were aquitted all charges but later admitted to committing the crime after they were offered 4000$ dollars to tell there part of the story to a magazine. The murder of Emmett Till was noted as one of the leading events that motivated the American Civil Rights Movement.
